Bowland Irish Draught Horses was established in 1992, with a broodmare by “Irelands Pride” – Grand-sire “King of Diamonds”.

The stud is set over 500 acres in the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Living and working with the Irish Draught Horse we have grown to love and respect the breed and are committed to improving and breeding Irish Draught Horses and part-breds.

Our facilities have improved year upon year and we now have clients using stallions of every breed, we pride ourselves on the care of the mare making sure she receives the correct nutrition helping her conceive quickly as possible keeping costs as low as possible for our clients.

In the beginning we covered all mares naturally, however over time the stud has developed and we now also collect semen from our stallions and artificially inseminating our mares and visiting with fresh, chilled and frozen semen from our own stallions and other studs internationally. This gives us greater flexibility to cater for every mare owners needs.

This requires commitment 24 hours a day from ourselves and our vets whether it be foaling mares or scanning them every six hours for frozen semen.
